In 2005, we won the Pacific Business Trust ‘Business Enterprise’ award. This was for our NZ restaurant, before we moved to Samoa.
In 2012, to mark the 50th anniversary of the sigining of the Treaty of Friendship between Samoa & NZ, the NZ High Commission here in Samoa, held a restaurant food challenge. Restaurants submitted a dish featuring a NZ meat and complimenting it with Samoan flavours. The event was a huge success following on from Samoa’s 50th Independence celebrations in June. The food challenge has been held annually since 2012, and we have been fortunate to be awarded the following:
2012 “Best Modern Samoan Dish”
2013 “Best Modern Samoan Dish
2014 “Best Modern Samoan Dish”
2015 “Best Modern Samoan Dish” This year the NZ High Commission Restaurant Challenge was held earlier in the year to coinside with the historic All Blacks vs Manu Samoa game July 8th, 2015. The whole country was abuzz with rugby fever. We sure know how to host the AB’s!!
2017 We were one of three nominees for the first ever Samoa Tourism Excellence Awards organised by the Samoa Tourism Authority (STA) held on Jan 7th, 2017. Judging was based on surveys and inspections carried out by the Tourism Standards Committee and the STA Research and Statistics team. Scalinis was nominated alongside Paddles & Seabreeze for the “2017 Best Restaurant” category. Congratulations to our fellow restaurateurs Paddles Restaurant who won the prize.
